Calling all developers: The Android ‘L’ preview factory images are now live!

Ldeveloperpreview

Google has today uploaded the preview factory images for the next version of Android (currently known only as Android L) for developers to test on the latest Nexus 5 and Nexus 7. The system image are only available to download through Google’s Developer Dashboard and in order to flash and install them onto your device you’ll need to be pretty savvy with a command line.

According to Google, “the Android preview system image is not a stable release, and may contain errors and defects that can result in damage to your computer systems, devices, and data. The preview Android system image is not subject to the same testing as the factory OS and can cause your phone and installed services and applications to stop working” — so be cautious when installing it on your handset.

You may not get too excited by this announcement, but I’m sure  you can appreciate that someones does. This enables developers whose main purpose is to work effortlessly to adapt and implement the code to develop some impressive custom ROMs, applications, services and utilities that we can download and install on our very own Android devices.
