Oppo R3 is the world’s slimmest LTE enabled handset

After silently unveiling a mini variant of the Find 7 earlier this month, the R6007, Oppo has announced another new smartphone for the Chinese market — the R3.

The company is marketing the handset as the thinnest LTE smartphone on the market, even though it only supports the LTE frequencies used in China. But with a waistline of only 6.3mm, the Oppo R3 truly deserves that title.

The R3 is a mid-range handset and sports a 5-inch 720p IPS display and is powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, an 8MP rear shooter, a 5MP front-facing camera and a 2420mAh internal battery.

Just like the Find 7, the R3 will come with Oppo’s own ColorOS based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, which is a bummer. The handset will go up for sale in China later this week with a price tag of CNY 2, 290 ($368).

Oppo did not mention anything about the global availability of the R3 so chances of the handset making its way to the international market looks bleak.
