The Xperia Z2 camera is by no means inadequate but that does not mean it cannot be improved further. An XDA developer — Rizal Lovins — has released a Cybershot camera mod for the Z2 which further boosts the imaging capabilities of Sony’s latest flagship.

The camera mod improves the image quality as well as video recording from the back and the front cameras. The most notable feature of this mod though is the ability to take pictures in 20MP (4:3) and 15MP (16:9) resolution whilst using the Super Auto mode, which is limited to 8MP by default from Sony.

Right now, the mod does not offer any other benefit but expect it to be updated sometime soon with reduced compression for still photos, higher bitrate for recording videos, tweaked algorithms for bet and more.

Installing the mod requires Z2 owners to have an unlocked bootloader with a custom recovery, which might turn off a few people. Head over to the source link below for the download link and installation instructions.
