Among the handful of people in this world to own a Nvidia Shield? Well, here is a piece of news that will make you glued to it for the next few weeks.

Valve, the creator of many popular games like Half Life series and DOTA 2, has released two of its most popular games for Nvidia’s handheld gaming console — Portal and Half Life 2.

Both the games have been optimised for Shield and make use of its gamepad to offer a PC like experience. The graphics have also been enhanced with special effects and realistic environments, all thanks to the power offered by the Tegra 4 chipset.

In case, you have never heard about them, they are among the highest rated games in the PC gaming industry with Portal receiving over 70 industry awards and Half Life 2 receiving more than 50 Game of the Year awards. If you are looking to play some quality FPS games, you cannot go wrong with either of them.

Nvidia had launched the Shield last year but it met with lukewarm response. The device never got my attention (and of most people) mainly because of its high price tag and the lack of some quality games. While Nvidia did reduce its price tag before the holiday season last year, the device was still lacking some quality and exclusive games.

With the release of Valve’s Portal and Half Life 2 though, the scene has changed greatly. These two games alone make buying the Shield absolutely worth it. If you own a Shield though, what are you waiting for? Head over to the Play Store to grab these games for $9.99 apiece.
