Gmail App For Android Reportedly Getting A New UI Update [Leak]

Gmail UI Refresh

According to a new leak, the Gmail app for Android could soon get a UI refresh. The report is accompanied by a leaked screenshot which shows the revamped UI along with some new colors. The screenshot also reveals the addition of several additional tabs within the app to categorize mails accordingly.

As this is merely a leak at this point and not a confirmation of its existence, we suggest you take it with a pinch of salt. It also seems very unlikely that Google would come up with a redesign when its Android app was only revamped last year.

The screenshots further show off a pinning system which will allow users to make their desired mails float on the top of the pile, while there’s no view of the star icons.

This is reportedly a version of Gmail which Google is currently testing, so it might not necessarily make the final cut. However, it’s good to see that Google is working on new UI patterns for one of the most popular Android apps available today. Let’s hope we get to see a few of these features in future iterations of Gmail, although we won’t be holding our breath.
