LG Optimus G Getting The Android 4.4.2 Update This Summer [Leak]

Optimus G

According to a leak courtesy of French carrier SFR, the LG Optimus G will get the Android 4.4.2 update this Summer. So it seems like users of LG’s 2012 flagship still have a few months of waiting to do for the latest version of Android.

The Optimus G is popularly known as the reference design for the Nexus 4 which was one of the most successful Nexus devices for Google and also the first made by LG. Ironically, despite featuring an almost identical hardware, the Optimus G is still stuck on Android 4.2, while the Nexus 4 features the latest Android 4.4.2 operating system.

Timely updates have never been LG’s forte, so we’re not really surprised by this delay. Nevertheless, it’s good news that an update is on the cards.

The information has reportedly been confirmed by LG as well, so users of the Optimus G can expect an update by the end of June this year.

Impatient users can always flash a custom ROM and stay up to date with all the changes that Google has made to the system since Jelly Bean. But considering the risks involved in the process, it’s not a feasible option for casual users.
