Sony Begins Rolling Out Android 4.3 For The Xperia M

Xperia M

Sony is now seeding the Android 4.3 update for the Xperia M smartphone. We won’t blame you if the handset doesn’t ring a bell, because it was only launched in limited markets as a midrange offering last year.

Currently, the Japanese manufacturer is only rolling out the update to the standard single-SIM variant with no word on the dual SIM model as of yet. The information has been confirmed via Sony’s official product page as well. The update will carry the build number 15.4.A.0.23.

Oddly, the update is reportedly live only for the carrier variants of the Xperia M in Europe and Asia, while the unlocked and off contract models are yet to get it. So you might have to wait a while if you got yours unlocked and off contract.

Even though Android 4.3 isn’t the latest iteration of Android, the update is quite significant for users of the handset as it was previously running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. So users will be able to see all the standard Android 4.2+ changes such as the Quick Settings option, better security features and some visual improvements as well.

Sony has reportedly updated some of its core apps too, so users will see quite a lot of changes post this update. Let us know in the comments section below if your Xperia M has already started receiving the update.
