First Generation YotaPhone Now Available For Purchase In The UK

YotaPhone

The YotaPhone was originally launched last year with a relatively unique concept combining a conventional LCD panel with a back facing E-Ink display for notifications and other important information. Although the smartphone was announced relatively early in 2013, it never saw a wider release until December. And now, the handset has gone up for sale in the UK as well for £419 or $700.

That’s quite a lot of money to spend on an year old device, so the manufacturers might have to rethink their strategy a little bit.

The YotaPhone features a 4.3 inch 720p LCD panel on the front and a 4.3 inch E-Ink display on the back accordingly. It runs on a dual core 1.7 GHz processor, sports 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 13 megapixel camera and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

So even in terms of hardware, the YotaPhone is pretty behind especially when we consider the current crop of handsets. However, if you want the convenience of having two displays on your smartphone, this is pretty much the only option there is right now. The second gen YotaPhone is expected to launch later this year for an undisclosed amount.
