OnePlus One To Come With Moto X Like Always-On Voice Recognition

OnePlus One

With every passing week, OnePlus has been revealing a new feature and specification of their upcoming handset — the OnePlus One. In the last few days, they have revealed that the handset would sport a 5.5-inch 1080p display inside a body that is smaller than the Xperia Z1, a Snapdragon 800 processor and a 3100mAh battery.

Today, the company has revealed that their upcoming handset will also feature a Moto X like always-on listening mode and is actually taking feedback on their forums for the wakeup phrase.

The wake up phrase that the OnePlus team is contemplating between are “OK, OnePlus!”, “Wake up, OnePlus!” and “Alakazam”. You can head over to their forums, sign up and cast your vote as well to help them decide. Right now, the “OK, OnePlus” phrase is leading the poll with nearly 75% of the votes.

The voice recognition technology will work even when the device is locked and sleeping, just like on the Moto X and not how it only works on the home screen on the Nexus 5. The OnePlus team will be taking advantage of the dedicated low-power always-on audio DSP on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset to make sure that there will not be a severe hit to battery life.
