Microsoft Looking To Integrate Xbox Live More Deeply With Android And iOS

A new report suggests that Microsoft might be looking to bring deeper integration of its Xbox Live app with Android and iOS devices. It currently allows users to compare scores among friends, check out achievements and make some minor changes to the profile. But the folks at Redmond reportedly want to bring deeper support and even cross platform gaming.

A recent job listing by the company read – “We will create a modern framework that is open-source, lightweight, extensible and scalable across various platforms including Windows Store, Windows Phone, iOS, and Android”. It is also said that Microsoft is looking to lift certain restrictions from Xbox Live which is currently holding back game developers from integrating their titles more deeply with the app. This would apparently open doors for cross-platform multiplayer gaming as well, but that could be quite a distance away from now.

Android has Google Play Games while Apple has Game Center which serves the exact same purpose locally to its devices. However, the arrival of a cross platform gaming service could drastically change things. This move is being seen as Microsoft’s effort to win back game developers.
