Samsung is busy pushing out a relatively minor over-the-air stability update to all its unlocked Galaxy Note 3 handsets currently located in the United States. Sadly, this upgrade doesn’t bring any major software modifications, such as Android 4.4.2, but it does transport a fix for a rather annoying problem that many users have been complaining about for a while now.

Once the update, build number N9005XXUENB, has been installed, users will notice that they again have the ability to save to an external storage device from within an application – something they were previously unable to do due to a flaw in KitKat’s operating system which Samsung had adapted to work on its flagship smartphone. Although this problem should never have occurred in the first place, it’s good to see that the South Korean company has been keen to fix it.

To initiate the upgrade manually, make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network. Then, from the home screen, press the Menu key, followed by Settings. Scroll to the bottom and tap ‘About Device’, then ‘Software Update and ‘Update Now’. Follow all the prompts presented on the display of your device and your phone will start to download and install this 15.4 MB stability update.
