Motorola’s custom Gallery application, which ships as standard on the Google-owned company’s Moto X, Moto G and Droid range of smartphones, is the latest in a long line of apps to make its way onto the Play Store for ‘easy updating.’ To celebrate the launch, Motorola has decided to give the app a little makeover, with a new light color palette and a slide-in hamburger menu mounted on the left-hand side of the screen.

In addition, Moto has increased the size of the image thumbnails to make browsing and selecting specific pictures significantly easier, and, according to the changelog, navigation is much simpler. When swiping in from the left of the screen, users will be greeted with a fully-functional menu, allowing them to navigate between gallery’s/folders within the app, access the settings page and even open a third-party application to edit photographs in.

“View and share your photos and videos in an immersive, full-screen experience. Easily personalise your photos with frames, filters and more in just a few taps,” says, Motorola, in the application’s description on the Google Play Store.

Moto Gallery currently supports the Moto G, Moto X, Droid Ultra, Droid Mini and Droid Maxx — all running Android 4.4 KitKat.

The purpose of Motorola uploading all of its system applications to the Play Store is to save time, it allows the company to instantly update a service it provides, without having to manually push out an update over the air.
