As from today, residents in the United States can purchase the upgraded version of Sony’s Experia Z1, the Xperia Z1s, on any of T-Mobile’s two-year contracts with no downpayment. This new handset costs $528, which the operator has split into 24 payments of $22 per month, which gets added your monthly network service charge.

The Z1s was announced earlier this month and is basically a modified version of the original Z1 exclusively designed for T-Mobile, incorporating a 5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset powered by four 2.2GHz Krait 400 CPU’s, 2GB of RAM, an Adreno 330 GPU, 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD), a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera equipped with optical image stabilization and a 3,000 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery.

The handset ships running the latest build of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean skinned with Sony’s X-Reality custom user interface, but is expected to receive the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system by way of an over-the-air update in the not-too-distant future.
