Samsung released its relatively impressive compact entry-level Android-powered smartphone, the Galaxy S Duos, back in September, 2012, and since then has shown itself to be a big hit with people who don’t require the power that a flagship device has to offer, but still seek the software and functionality that it brings. At launch, the handset retailed for $314, but Amazon is currently selling the handset with a $143.74 discount (46%) — meaning you can now pick one up for $170.26.

The S Duos isn’t a high-end device by any means, but it’s enough to get you through your day-to-day life with ease, packing a 4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon chipset powered by a 1GHz Cortex-A5 CPU, an Adreno 200 GPU, 768MB of DDR3 RAM, 4GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD), a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera equipped with an LED flash, a VGA front-facing shooter, dual Micro-SIM capabilities and a 1,500 mAh Li-Ion battery.

In addition, the handset ships running the latest build of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich skinned with Samsung’s TouchWiz custom user interface, which the South Korean company claims is the “easier way to use your device, giving you intuitive control over everyday tasks or more advanced ones.”
