Google Now Pushing Out Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA Update For The Google Play Edition LG G Pad 8.3

Today, just three days after Google started rolling out the latest build of Android 4.4.2 Jelly Bean to the HTC One GPE, the team at Mountain View have begun pushing out the exact same upgrade for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, which launched in the United States last week. This rollout doesn’t come as much of a surprise, seeing as this slate ships running Android 4.4, so it was only a matter of time before the relatively small bump up to 4.4.2 came.

In terms of specifications, the G Pad 8.3 is identical to its stock G Pad counterpart, packing an 8.3-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1200 x 1920, a Qualcomm APQ8064 Pro Snapdragon 600 chipset powered by four 1.7GHz Krait 300 CPU’s, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD), a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a beefy 4,600 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat brings a completely redesigned multitasking system which optimizes memory usage in every major component, “meaning users can run more of their favourite apps and switch between them faster than ever.”

In addition, Google has also bundled some very important bug fixes in the 4.4.2 upgrade. The full changelog can be seen below:

  • Enhancements/Fixes
  • Fix for clearing the VM Indicator
  • Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator
  • Various additional software fixes
