Google Rolling Out Chromecast Build 14651 Bringing Refreshed Home Screen & Bug Fixes

Google is in the process of rolling a silent, much-needed, over the air update to all of its Chromecast units located within the United States. The update brings a couple of highly-requested bug fixes, in addition to a refreshed home screen, which promises some dramatic speed optimizations.

Sadly, there’s no drastic new features for the unit. It’s just a standard maintenance update that been produced to iron out a few creases so that we, the general public can enjoy a snappy and seamless streaming browsing experience.

According to the team at Mountain View, the update, build 14651, “will be rolled out over the next week, and you should receive the update automatically.”

The full changelog (provided by Google) for the update can be seen below:

  • Bug fixes
  • Refreshed home screen

Obviously, as this is a staged rollout, there’s nothing you can do to speed up the update, just leave your dongle connected and Google will do the rest.
