The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has been lurking around in the background for some time now and pretty soon the photo-centric smartphone will touchdown on its first US carrier. AT&T has officially announced that starting Friday, November 8, Samsung’s monstrous camera/smartphone hybrid, will be available on its network.

The S4 Zoom is effectively a combination of the S4 Mini and the Galaxy Camera, and as a result the device packs a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, a Mali-400 GPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable up to 64GB via microSD), a whopping 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with 10x optical zoom and a 2,330 mAh battery.

The handset will ship running the latest build of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI plastered over the top.

The device can be yours for a one-off up front payment of $199 on any of the carrier’s 2-year contracts or for $25 per month if you choose to sign up to AT&T Next early-upgrade plan. In addition, customers who choose one of these payment options will qualify for a complimentary Galaxy Tab 3, but be sure to bear in mind that a separate two year data plan is still required.

Furthermore, customers on the Next plan can choose to trade in an existing smartphone to receive a $100 promotion card from AT&T, which can be used toward the purchase of the Galaxy S4 Zoom – so you’ll only have to pay $99 upfront.
