Scout Navigation Update Brings Real-Time Group ETA Sharing

The incredibly popular assistive GPS application, Scout, received a pretty nifty update yesterday, which brings users the ability to share their estimated time of arrival (ETA) in real-time with friends – providing they’re all members of the same communal group.

If you wish to take full advantage of the new real-time group ETA sharing, you will need to send an invitation to your friends from within the app. Scout will then generate a unique URL and send it via text or e-mail to the invitee. Once your buddy clicks the link, Scout will launch displaying a turn-by-turn navigation interface. From here, user’s will be able to track each others estimated time of arrival or follow them in real-time on a 3D map.

The full changelog for the update can be seen below:

  • Meet up with friends! With real-time group ETA sharing, everyone can see where the others are on a map. All invitees get free voice-guided directions to the destination, no matter what smartphone they have!
  • No more “where are you??” texts. Share your ETA with others with OnMyWay® and let them see your real-time progress on a map.
  • Find your friends faster. Scout’s intelligent search now includes friends in your contact list so you can drive to them or invite them to meet up easily!
