Google Play Movies & TV Update Brings Simplified TV Browsing

Google is rolling out a much-needed update for its ‘Play Movies and TV’ app on the Play Store. The upgrade makes it significantly easier for users to browse through their My TV Shows collection, without having to scroll down an endless list of unorganized purchased content in order to find the show they are looking for.

Instead of having individual episodes of programs catalogued in a never ending list in the main ”TV Shows’ menu, this update brings a traditional Google-style icon grid, which automatically scans through your TV library and files the episodes of each TV show into a folder under the shows name.

In addition, the development team at Mountain View have also added a nifty little feature which enables users to purchase the next episode of a TV show directly from within the app, without having to navigate to the Play Store to manually search for the program and episode number.

The full changelog for the update can be seen below:

  • Browse by TV show in “My TV Shows”.
  • Buy the next episode directly from the app.
  • Several bug fixes.
