Starting today, AT&T is rolling out an over-the-air update to all of its Galaxy Note II devices. The upgrade weights in at 165MB, and although it doesn’t bring any major software improvements, it’s still quite a significant update that we would advise any Note II owner to download.

AT&T claims that the update brings a multitude of bug fixes and speed optimizations to the Note II, in addition to bumping the many Google and carrier-branded pre-installed applications up to their latest versions – which is essential for any device to function to the best of its ability.

Sadly, the update doesn’t bring any UI alterations, nor does it bring Android 4.3. Jelly Bean, so for now Note II users will still be running Android 4.1.2 with build number JZO54K.I317UCAMH3.

It shouldn’t be too much longer until AT&T together with Samsung roll out the Android 4.3 update to the Note II, but for now it looks like we’re still in the dark with regards to an official release date for this device.

If you’re a Note II owner and have not received the OTA update, you can head into “Settings,” then “About Device,” and select “Check for Updates” to manually scan for the upgrade.
