My Tracks Updated With Landscape Views & More

My Tracks

Google has published an update for its My Tracks app in Google Play, bringing along with it landscape views, detailed statistics, travel detection and improved accuracy.

My Tracks is the perfect application for anybody who enjoys the outdoors. It automatically records your speed, distance, path, and elevation when you walk, run, bike, or do anything else outside. Whilst the app is recording your activity, you can view your data live, annotate your path, and hear periodic announcements of your progress.

The update for statistics now provides you with a record of the locations you have visited, complete with a map of your route, the miles you’ve traveled, and the time it took you. You will also be provided with various maps and graphs, informing you of your speed and elevation throughout your journey.

The app now automatically detects whether you are walking, biking, or driving – so you no longer have to manually configure My Tracks each time you start a new activity.

The full changelog includes:

  • New location provider for better accuracy and battery usage
  • Automatically detect walking, biking, and driving
  • New stats view
  • New landscape view
  • Select multiple tracks
  • Merge tracks and play them in Google Earth
