Netflix Update Brings Support For 1080p Video Streaming With Android 4.3

One of the main highlights of Google’s keynote in San Francisco was the announcement of Chromecast which utilized the leading service in the movie-streaming industry, Netflix, in its demonstration. In response, Netflix has now published an update for its application on Google Play, bringing the ability to stream 1080p video directly from a device running Android 4.3.

Google’s new 4.3 API, which has been used in the development of the Netflix app, will enable users to push full HD content (both music and videos) from Android devices to any Chromecast unit.

This feature will also be available through Netflix’s web application, allowing users to stream their desktop directly to their HD TV’s.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is now available to download for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, so if you’re a Netflix user who uses one of these devices and you’ve pre-ordered your Chromecast device there’s never been a better time to download the update.
