Samsung has announced that it will be holding a full-blown developer conference for the first time this fall. The Samsung Developers Conference will be held October 27th-29th in San Francisco, and attendees will learn about new “Samsung tools and SDKs.”

While the conference will likely center around TouchWiz and Samsung’s other flavors of Android, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Korean company unveil new hardware as well. Samsung is the dominant Android handset provider in the states, and it could start using this event to distance itself from Google even more.

Sources have told The Verge that the conference will “focus largely on the company’s hardware as a common platform,” which sounds right. Samsung makes everything from the S4 to TVs to washers. Brand unification is something that Samsung desperately needs, and this conference could be the fix.

You can sign up to learn more about the conference on Samsung’s website. More details will be sent out as the date approaches.
