5.7-Inch Galaxy Note III To Be Unveiled At IFA 2013 In Germany [Rumor]

A beautiful Note III concept.

According to a South Korean report, industry officials have revealed that the Galaxy Note III will be unveiled at IFA 2013 in Germany and will feature a 5.7-inch display.

The original Galaxy Note had a 5.3-inch display, and the Galaxy Note II has a 5.5-inch display — so increasing the screen to 5.7-inch for the next generation would make some sense, assuming of course that Samsung’s methodology is to keep adding 0.2 inches to the display of each new Note generation.

The Korea Herald states that Samsung has an advantage over Apple with its speculated phablet edition iPhone launching next year, because the South Korean company has been designing and manufacturing large devices for some time now which have been extremely successful.

Greater internet speeds provided by LTE-Advanced capabilities, in future devices is proving to be a contributing factor that would influence manufacturers, such as Samsung and Apple to turn out bigger smartphones. According to the Herald an industry official spoke out on this topic, and here’s what the anonymous source had to say:

The revolutionizing LTE-A technology, which allows the users to search and download at up to 150 Mbps right in the palm of their hands, is expected to encourage more companies to explore a variety of ways to commercialize larger handheld devices from now on,” an industry official said.

Slower mobile connection speeds back then [when the original Galaxy Note was launched] not only prevented the smartphone users from doing more on their devices but also held back the handheld makers from diversifying their products with different sizes,” the official said.

The concept of the phablet can now be truly realized with the introduction of the LTE-A network and the apparent eagerness of handheld makers to answer the growing global demand for larger and more innovative mobile devices.

The Korea Herald was found to be wrong recently, when it inaccurately suggesting that the Galaxy Mega devices come with a built-in stylus. The Mega 5.8 & 6.3 are both mid-range phablets unveiled by Samsung back in April and both without a built-in S Pen.

Bearing this is mind, we’ll take these newest revelations from the Herald for the Galaxy Note III with a pinch of salt.
