Samsung Appoints Gregory Lee As New President Of U.S. Mobile Division

Samsung made some executive changes at the highest level yesterday, appointing Gregory Lee as president of Samsung Telecommunications America (STA). Formerly the president and chief executive officer of Samsung Asia Pte Ltd, Lee will be responsible for “leading Samsung’s mobile business operations and strengthening the company’s leading position in the smartphone market in the U.S.”

If you’re wondering what’s happened to the outgoing STA president, Dale Sohn. Well, he has been appointed as the executive advisor to Samsung’s mobile division CEO, JK Shin. With Sohn now advising CEO Shin, we could see some very interesting developments from Samsung in the United States pretty soon.

The South Korean company owes much of its success in mobile to the U.S. market, and having the man who guided the company to the top and achieved record results with the Galaxy line makes perfect business sense.

Mr. Lee comes to STA after serving as President of Samsung’s Southeast Asia Headquarters for the past three years. Prior to that, he was the head of Global Marketing Operations in the Samsung Electronics Headquarters in Korea. As a recognized expert through his achievements in marketing and innovative operations in Southeast Asia, Mr. Lee will continue to build STA’s success and mobile business initiatives.

Samsung Telecommunications America’s outgoing President, Dale Sohn, will return to Korea as Executive Advisor to Mr. J.K. Shin, co-CEO and President of the IT & Mobile Communications.
