Vine Update Brings Front-Facing Camera Support

Vine for Android Header

Vine has been updated on Google Play to enable front-facing camera support. Nothing else in the recording interface has been changed, except the addition of a simple ‘camera rotation’ button in the bottom left hand corner of the app.

When you’re recording a video using Vine you can now switch between the front and rear facing cameras, this could be particularly useful if you’re recording a truly astonishing or hilariously funny moment and want to share your reaction with the viewer/viewers. Alternatively, you can shoot the full 6-seconds of recording time with either the front or rear camera.

This update also brings some other additions to the app, including an upload queue for Vine’s that didn’t go through to the servers. There are also multiple bug fixes and speed optimizations, and as usual Vine promises its app is speedier than ever, with better camera load times and support for even more Android devices.

The full changelog can be seen below:

This update includes:
• Front-facing camera
• New upload manager for unsubmitted posts
• Improvements to settings
• Improvements to camera loading time and support for more devices
• Speed improvements overall
• Bug fixes and UI improvements

And the obvious question is… “Is this enough to bring people back over from Instagram with video?” Personally I think not, Vine’s old news now and Instagram video is the ‘next big thing’. Nevertheless, im pretty sure, if you’re a Vine user you’ll be seeing your feed filled up with a bunch of new faces over the next few days.
