Three U.K. has launched Sony’s latest mid-range handset, the Xperia SP. The device supports Three’s “ultrafast” network according to the company’s press release, which is believes to be its upcoming 4G network that will launch sometime during the second half of 2013.

The Xperia SP features a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.6-inch 720p “HD Reality” display, and an 8-megapixel camera. The device also runs the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system, however, Sony has kept us in the dark as to whether its device will recieve Android 4.3.

Three is giving the Xperia SP away for free on all of its 24-month contracts, which can be seen below.

  • Unlimited Internet 500: unlimited data, 500 minutes, 5,000 texts — £26 per month.
  • The One Plan: unlimited data, 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts, 5,000 Three-to-Three minutes — £29 per month.

If you don’t like the look of those, you could always pick one up on pay-as-you-go for a pretty reasonable £349.99.

The Xperia SP is available to purchase in black or white, and both colours have an aluminium trim running around the device with a glowing element underneath the screen, providing light so you can see the whole of the device, when in dark conditions.
