When you think of smartphone manufacturers, HTC is one of the first names that comes to mind. Founded on May 15, 1997, it’s clear that HTC have made a huge footprint in the sand when it comes to the evolution of the smartphone – and now they’ve opted to show us how far they’ve come.

HTC created the first smartphone running the Android operating system, that was primarily built for consumers, featuring a QWERTY keyboard and a fully-functioning touchscreen. HTC even revolutionized finger gestures on mobile devices, and invented the ‘pinch to zoom’ functionality you see in most modern-day touchscreen smartphones.

HTC published this evolution video on their official YouTube channel on May 24th, 2013, and it has proven to be a hit with most technology enthusiasts all over the world. The video provides us with a brief tour from the beginning of HTC’s entry into the smartphone world, to the present day.

As you can see from the video above, HTC have achieved some remarkable things in the past 16 years, and should definitely be proud of themselves.

I think it’s safe to say that HTC have changed the way we see and use smartphones today, influencing other manufacturers to incorporate all of HTC’s state of the art features into their devices, such as 4G connectivity.
