New Sprint Scheme Allows MVNOs To Custom Brand Android Devices

Sprint is aiming to make lives easier for MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network operators) on its network with the introduction of custom-branded devices. This new scheme allows MVNOs to brand Sprint devices and preload generic versions of their apps.

The program has only just begun and currently includes the LG Optimus G, LG Mach, and the Sprint Flash. The two apps which are preloaded on the devices are Mobile ID and Mobile Zone — these apps are generic versions of Sprint ID and Sprint Zone.

These two software features provide customization to devices and account information along with automatic updates. They certainly aren’t groundbreaking, but they are a nice feature for MVNOs to have.

Sprint has confirmed that more devices will be added to the lineup later down the line, some coming as soon as the end of this month.
