Sony Drops The Price Of Its Tablet S By $100, Too Little Too Late?

Sony is trying to muster up some much needed attention for their first born Android tablet by dropping its price by $100. If you were considering a Sony Tablet S but held back because of price, now may be a good time to take the plunge. Both the 16GB and 32GB version have been discounted to $399.99 and $499.99 respectively. While it’s still a tough sell at this time — with both CES around the corner and the quad-core ASUS Transformer Prime in the market — it’s an option to think about. The Sony Tablet S was launched only a few months ago alongside its brother the Tablet P, and features:

  • – 9.4″ 1280 x 800 screen
  • – Dual core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor
  • – Internal Memory : 1GB
  • – External Memory : Full-size SD Card slot
  • – 0.3MP Front facing camera
  • – 5.0MP Rear Camera
  • – IR remote control function
  • – Android 3.1 (Honeycomb)

To sweeten the pot, everyone who purchases a Table S will get: five free PlayStation Classic game downloads, 180 days of Sony’s Music Unlimited service, and an $8 voucher for movie rentals along with five free rentals from Sony’s Video Unlimited service.

Personally I’d wait until after CES to decide on purchasing an Android tablet, but if you’ve been looking to pick up a Sony Tablet S anyways, this is good news for you.
