The year is coming to an end, but HTC is still not done releasing smartphones. The company has just announced the One X9, its new mid range handset with a metal body that packs in some impressive specs.

Unlike the Desire and other One series devices, the One X9 does not feature huge top and bottom bezels surrounding its 5.5-inch 1080p display. Instead, the BoomSound speakers have been nicely integrated into the design to make sure that they occupy less space and keep the dimensions of the device manageable. Even better, the BoomSound speakers now also feature support for Dolby Audio.

Under the hood of this 7.9mm thin handset is a MediaTek Helio X10 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz, a PowerVR G6200 GPU, 3GB RAM, and a microSD card slot. The rear houses a 13MP shooter that features 2nd gen. OIS and is assisted by a dual-tone LED flash. It is also capable of shooting videos in 4K resolution and pictures in RAW/DNG. A 4MP ‘UltraPixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture is located at the front, which will make sure your selfies have enough details even in the lowest of lightning conditions.

Other notable features of the One X9 include dual SIM connectivity, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and a non-removable 3000mAh battery with fast charging support. On the software front, the One X9 features HTC’s popular Sense UI, but it is unclear on whether it is running Marshmallow or Lollipop. Given the choice of the chipset though, my bet is that the handset is running on Lollipop (Android 5.1).

HTC will be offering the One X9 in Gunmetal Grey and Silver colors, with its price starting from 2399 yuan. The handset will go on sale in China soon.
