Google unleashes wonderfully nerdy Star Wars Easter egg

As a company staffed by some bona fide geeks (and, hey, we’re not complaining!) Google is undoubtedly excited about the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

And what better way to show it than with possibly my favorite Easter egg in Google history? If you haven’t heard about it yet, read on to discover more.

For those unfamiliar with it, visit Google.com and search the words “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” If you’ve done it correctly, the search results that you see should mimic the opening credits scrawl seen in every Star Wars movie ever made.

This isn’t the first time the search giant has rolled out the red carpet for the new Star Wars spectacular. Google previously announced its “Choose Your Side” promotional campaign that allows you to customize many Google apps with Star Wars visuals. It has also teamed up with Disney and Verizon to develop a new Star Wars virtual reality series for Google Cardboard owners.

Surely building a real-life Death Star is the next logical step?
