Not content with launching with launching the Galaxy S5, a trio of fitness bands, a couple of smart watches and a smartphone-camera hybrid (phew!), Samsung has announced a new health event to be held on May 28th in San Francisco.

The event is scheduled to be held just a day after LG is scheduled to announce the G3 and a week before Apple’s WWDC — where the company is expected to announce iOS 8 with a rumoured Healthbook feature.

Samsung’s press invite does not reveal much about the event except that it is solely focused on health as indicated by its tagline of “a new conversation around health is about to begin.” Back at Mobile World Congress, Samsung unveiled a dedicated fitness tracker — the Galaxy Fit — that looked promising but has sadly met with mediocre reviews.

Samsung’s latest flagship — the Galaxy S5 — also comes with a dedicated heart rate sensor and a S-Health app that can track the day-to-day activity of a user. Even its recent smartwatches, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo come with a dedicated heart rate sensor, which indicates that the company is really betting big on health this year.

None of Samsung’s health related devices announced this year have received positive reviews, so it would be interesting to see if the Korean giant manages to hit the jackpot this time or not.
