There are two great things about Hulu Plus. First up is the content, which is getting better and better on a regular basis. Secondly is just how easy it is to access.

To help with this second point, Hulu has just updated its Hulu Plus mobile apps to version 3.5.2 — providing a new remote control feature that lets you control Hulu Plus on your Xbox One, PS3 or PS4 console using your smartphone or tablet.

“At Hulu, we are always in search of providing great experiences for watching TV,” says Senior Development Lead Mitch Walker. “Today, we are pleased to announce the first release of the remote control experience for Hulu Plus, a new function that allows you to use your mobile phone or tablet to control the Hulu Plus experience on your living room device.”

“Expanding on the great Chromecast support we successfully launched last year, remote control functionality for Hulu Plus brings that same awesome experience to your living room through the Hulu Plus app on your Xbox One, PlayStation3 (PS3) or PlayStation4 (PS4) systems.”

The mobile update includes all the standard Hulu Plus controls — meaning that you can pause and resume a program, seek, or hit 10-second rewind.

You can also niftily use the app to search for one video while another one is playing on your console, while also having the option of shifting the stream from your television to your mobile device if you’re on the go.

What could be easier?

The Hulu Plus app update is free and can be found in both the Google Play and iOS App Store. The service itself will set you back $8 per month for unlimited on-demand programming, although a 7-day trial is available for new recruits.
