The President of HTC America, Jason Mackenzie, has officially revealed on Twitter that the company’s former flagship smartphone of 2013, the HTC One (M7), is scheduled to receive the much-anticipated Sense 6 update before the end of May, 2014. Unfortunately, the above deadline is currently only for unlocked and carrier-branded variants of the smartphone located in the United States and Canada — so European folk are in the dark for now.

In terms of functionality, Sense 6 is a considerable upgrade from Sense 5.5, packing a completely redesigned user interface that’s even simpler than it’s predecessor, Fitbit integration which enables users to record how many steps they make on a daily bases, video pausing during capture which allows users to pause whilst capturing a video and piece together two or more scenes without having to conduct any video editing, a revamped Sense TV layout and lots, lots more has been added.

We already know that HTC is in the process of preparing to distribute its new interface to the One Mini and One Max. However, we are still awaiting an official deadline, though we expect it to also arrive sometime in May, seeing as the software only has to have some minor adjustments made before it can be rolled out to all the other smartphones in the One range.

Be sure to check back as we’ll let you know as soon as the update starts rolling out.
