Fix The Share Menu Bug In Android 4.4 Kitkat [How-To]

Nexus-4-KitKat

With every new Android version comes a bunch of new bugs. Android 4.4 KitKat is no different with its own share of bugs. One very irritating bug in KitKat that some users have been facing is the Share menu not working properly.

After a user has shared any content from one app to another for the first time, the Share menu stops working and tapping on it will automatically open the last app you shared to. For example, if you share some content from Chrome to Google Keep, the Share menu in KitKat will stop working. If you use the Share option again, instead of providing you with a list of apps, it will automatically open Google Keep.

Rebooting the device, clearing the app defaults or data will not solve this problem though. The solution is, in fact, much simpler than one can expect. Just follow the simple steps below to fix the issue.

1. Head over to Settings -> Apps on your Android device running KitKat.

2. Tap the 3-dot menu overflow button and the top right and select the ‘Reset app preferences’ option.

The above solution is just a temporary workaround for the above bug until an official OTA update from Google fixes the issue.
