Last night, EE officially announced that it has now successfully brought 4G LTE coverage to more than 100 markets across the U.K. Accrington in Lancashire was named the hundredth town to have its EE’s LTE service activated, on the eve of both O2 and Vodafone’s 4G switch-ons.

In the press release, EE noted that a further 9 towns have received access to its 4G service this month. In addition to Accrington – Ashford, Bicester, Colchester, Guildford, Milton Keynes, Redhill, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and Woking, have all acquired a connection to the U.K.’s fastest network, too – bumping up the total to 105.

EE also claims that its 4G network currently provides coverage for over 60% of the U.K. population, and reports that it has also switched on “double speed” LTE in Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton.

As from today, rival operators Vodafone and O2 will launch their 4G LTE networks. Vodafone will launch in London only, while O2 will go live in London, Leeds and Bradford.
