Google has only just announced its latest flagship Android tablet, the Nexus 7, which is the only device on the market to include the highest resolution 7-inch display. However, just 5 days after the handset was unveiled rumors are starting to emerge suggesting that Google will drop its hardware partnership with ASUS in favor of LG, for its next Nexus 7 in 2014.

Yesterday, well-known technology analyst, Ming-Chi-Kuo, published a report outlining his partnership forecasts for the upcoming 2014 model.

Kuo predicts that in 2014, Google will team up with LG to create an incredibly advanced 7-inch display. Google and LG have worked together in the past to produce the Nexus 4, which turned out to be a huge success. So, it would make perfect sense for Google to team up with the electronics giant, again, in the hope of producing another amazing device.

The HD high-resolution 1920 x 1200 screen on the new Nexus 7 shows us that the hardware and design team at Mountain View are taking screen resolution and clarity seriously. LG Display produces some of the world’s clearest and highest-resolution screens, so it would be a strategic move on Google’s part if it teamed up with LG to take full advantage of its displays; which can also be found on some of Apple’s iOS devices. Kuo highlights in his report that LG Display’s access to thinner/lighter and IPS panels would narrow the design gap between Google and Apple’s devices.

We have already seen what Google and ASUS can come up with when they put their heads together with regards to the Nexus 7 tablet on more than one occasion, so it would be very interesting to see what Google and LG could produce if they teamed up for the next generation of the same tablet considering the Nexus 4 – manufactured by LG – delivers the finest Android experience that any smartphone has to offer, so the two companies can’t go wrong. Can they?
