Yesterday, HTC U.K. tweeted a post bringing to our attention the Desire 816, with its 13MP rear-facing camera, it 5.5-inch HD screen and its dual-frontal speakers, evidently confirming that the handset will, indeed, be heading to the United Kingdom at some point in the not-too-distant future.

HTC One

The new HTC One is all set to be unveiled on the 25th of March, but if you’re still in the market for the company’s 2013 flagship, this might be worth a look. The Taiwanese manufacturer is now offering the unlocked HTC One for just $499, which is a discount of $100 over the original asking price.

KitKat 10

A couple of months later than expected, Sony has now started pushing out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat over-the-air update to all unlocked variants of its flagship smartphone phablet of 2013, the Xperia Z Ultra, located in the United States. In addition to the latest build of the open-source operating system, this upgrade also brings improved battery efficiency and enhanced call quality.

Sony’s miserable run in the consumer electronics industry is not news to us. This has reached a whole new level now with the Japanese manufacturer deciding to close down 20 of its retail outlets in the U.S. which amounts to about two thirds of its business in the country. Unfortunately, this will also result in over a 1,000 job cuts.
