Now that Hangouts has SMS integration, it’s the default SMS client in Android 4.4 KitKat, which means traditional text messages and instant messages are now all thrown in together. But if you don’t like it like this, there is a way you can change it.
When Google launched Hangouts back in May, the company promised that the service would one day get SMS integration on Android — just like Facebook Messenger has. And it appears that this, along with video sharing, is imminent after the Google Hangouts version 1.3 update was leaked this week.
Disa.im is a new app on the Play Store, currently in alpha, that aims to bring a unified messaging inbox for all the various messaging services out there. Currently, the application only supports the traditional SMS and Whatsapp, but the developer is working hard on adding Facebook Messenger integration as well.
Orange has today launched a new all-in-one communications tool for Android that promises to “change the way you communicate with the people that matter.” Called Libon, the app provides users with free calls, text messages, and a smart visual voicemail service that’s compatible with any wireless network in over 100 countries.
