Samsung’s smartphone sales may have dipped in recent months, but its new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are already off to an excellent start. Since their unveiling at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this month, more than 20 million handsets have been pre-ordered.

Samsung isn’t the only smartphone maker experiencing a decline in sales thanks to Apple’s latest iPhones. New data shows that the popularity of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus caused Android sales to decline for the first time ever during the fourth quarter of 2014.

Motorola’s latest handsets continue to be an incredible success worldwide, helping the company sell more than 10 million handsets during the third quarter of 2014.

It’s a record for the Moto maker, which saw its revenue reach new highs during Q3. Lenovo, which acquired Motorola from Google last year, said it was able to beat investor expectations for smartphone sales, which were already more than doubled for this quarter.

While recent reports have suggested Sony is preparing to ditch its ailing smartphone division, it seems it won’t give it up without a fight. In a last ditch effort to turn it around, the Japanese company is set to shed another 1,000 workers by March 2016.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 4 has been on sale for just under a month now, and the South Korean company has already sold more than 4.5 million units, according to industry sources. That’s a pretty impressive figure for most smartphone makers, but its predecessor was doing ever so slightly better this time last year.
