While recent reports have suggested Sony is preparing to ditch its ailing smartphone division, it seems it won’t give it up without a fight. In a last ditch effort to turn it around, the Japanese company is set to shed another 1,000 workers by March 2016.

Google is currently in the process of quietly rolling out a server-side update for its official Search application via the Play Store. Once updated, users have the ability to retrieve orientational information whilst holidaying or taking a trip, based on the location of their hotel. They can say, for example, ‘show me restaurants near my hotel’ and ‘how do I get back to my hotel,’ without actually having to mention the name of the hotel or its address — providing their confirmation email is in their Gmail inbox.

Speculation surrounding an Amazon Kindle smartphone has been rife for the past few years, but it looks like the device is finally coming to fruition. These images show off a prototype of the upcoming handset, which is claimed to be one of at least two that are currently in development.

Hulu-Plus-Chromecast

The Hulu Plus apps for Android and iOS have today been updated with support for Google Chromecast. You’ll find a new ‘Cast’ button within the app that will stream your favorite shows to your television with the help of the $35 dongle.

This week, ASUS promoted its hit technology conference, Computex, on Google+. However, the company didn’t give much information away; all it posted was a promotional picture and the caption “It’ll move you.” Now we all want to know what that means.
