Cyanogen Inc., the creator of the hugely popular CyanogenMod software, has reportedly rebuffed acquisition interest from Google and is instead discussing a Series C round of funding with a number of investors. The team is reportedly seeking a valuation around $1 billion.

 

OnePlus-One-sideOnePlus is dropping ColorOS and bringing its own software to One devices in China next year. The company has already shifted its development team to Taiwan, where it plans to use the many talented Android developers and designers who are based locally to its advantage.

The OnePlus One ships with one of the biggest and best custom ROMs right out of the box (CyanogenMod), but for those who like to tinker and switch things up every so often, there are other options available — like the Paranoid Android ROM, which now provides official support for the One and a number of devices from Oppo.

If you own an Oppo Find 7 or will soon be getting your hands on the OnePlus One, here is some good news for you. The folks over at CyanogenMod have added these devices to their roster for churning out CyanogenMod 11 nightlies on a regular basis. for them

The first batch of OnePlus One started shipping late last week but since it already runs on CyanogenMod 11S, the availability of CM nightlies for it in such a short time should not really come as a surprise.

Oppo-R3

After silently unveiling a mini variant of the Find 7 earlier this month, the R6007, Oppo has announced another new smartphone for the Chinese market — the R3.

The company is marketing the handset as the thinnest LTE smartphone on the market, even though it only supports the LTE frequencies used in China. But with a waistline of only 6.3mm, the Oppo R3 truly deserves that title.
