Twitter rolled out a new version of their Android and iOS apps today, improving on search, discovery, and notifications. In both apps, search has become increasingly easier thanks to spelling suggestions and related searches in search results. Username autocomplete in search has also been added, making finding someone extremely fast and less cumbersome. iPhone users will enjoy additional search improvements with a tap of the search box in Discover allowing them to see their most recent queries, as well as the ability to go directly to someone’s profile when searching for a username in Connect.

Did you know it’s even easier to dismiss certain facets of information in Android 4.0? That’s right, with Ice Cream Sandwich you can easily swipe away notifications, recent tasks, and even browser tabs. Too many notification — just swipe ’em away. Too many tabs — just swipe ’em away. While it may seem trivial, you’d be surprised at how efficient swiping is versus closing something out with a back button, “close” or “X”. It requires no focus, no thought, just a quick swipe of the finger and unwanted information goes bye-bye.

We’ve all been there, that moment when the bill for that great mobile plan you signed up for comes in. Monthly access charges, usage charges, surcharges, taxes, governmental surcharges & fees — the list goes on… and on… and on. The FCC and others call this “bill shock,” while I call it well… we’ll save that for another day. Regardless of how we feel about these charges and fees, they are the services we signed up for and agreed to pay. Unfortunately it’s not always easy to monitor our usage and it can be very easy to incur overage charges when it comes to services like data and text messaging.
