To celebrate the launch of its flagship G2, LG held a pretty crazy promotional event in Seoul on Friday, which gave attendees the opportunity to win a voucher for a free handset by catching one of 100 helium-filled balloons that were released into the air.

But the event turned nasty when 20 people were injured, and LG was forced to cancel other events it had planned across South Korea.

LG will announce its new flagship G2 at an event in New York City later today, but the handset’s official press images have already been leaked. And they may look very familiar to you. If you take away the LG logo that sits under the display and add a physical home button instead, you’d have what looks almost exactly like a Samsung Galaxy S4.

A leaked user manual for the upcoming LG G2 confirms that it will be one of just a few Android-powered devices that support the nano-SIM. It also appears to debunk the reports that have suggested the handset will feature a fingerprint scanner.

The New York Attorney General has called for Apple, Google, Samsung, and Microsoft to invent new ways to curb the ongoing smartphone theft “epidemic.” Eric Schneiderman wants meetings with representatives from all four companies, and he has urged them to “be as innovative in solving this problem as they have been in designing devices that have reshaped how we live.”
