Following in the footsteps of Apple and Samsung, LG is going to design its own smartphone and tablet processors.

The Korea company has teamed up with Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC, and according to a source familiar with its plans, the upcoming G3 flagship will be LG’s first smartphone powered by an in-house processor.

A new revelation has spilled the beans on the hardware powering the Samsung Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo smartwatches. It has been confirmed that the two new wearable devices come with a dual core Exynos 3250 chipset under the hood clocked at 1 GHz. This is in comparison to the 800 MHz chip found in the Galaxy Gear from last September.

MediaTek Hexa Core

If you thought Samsung was the only company capable of launching a hexa-core chipset, think again. Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek appears to be working on its very own six core chipset to combat Samsung’s Exynos 5260 Hexa.

Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 was launched yesterday with much aplomb in Barcelona. During the course of the announcement, Samsung announced that the smartphone will feature a quad core Snapdragon 801 chipset. But there was nothing specified about an octa core model, which was a tad surprising.
