Can Samsung save BlackBerry?

A recent report claimed BlackBerry will turn to Android to save itself from extinction, and now it seems the Canadian company could be teaming up with Samsung to make that happen. It’s thought the pair are working on a new smartphone powered by Lollipop that will be secured by BlackBerry services.

BlackBerry may be struggling to attract smartphone users to its own BlackBerry 10 platform, but it may have more success helping others improve theirs. The Canadian company today announced that it is now working with Google to make Android devices more secure.

BlackBerry’s smartphone business is imploding in a big way in the U.K., where the company is currently losing around 56,000 users every month to Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, new research shows.

Just two years ago, the Canadian company had around 8 million non-business users in the U.K., but that figure is expected to fall below 1 million by the end of this year.

Who says iOS has all the apps? According to new data, Google isn’t just kicking butt when it comes to market share, but also mobile apps as well. The search giant’s Play Store now offers a great selection of titles than the App Store, but Apple fans will argue that quality is more important than quantity.

BBM-Channels

BlackBerry finally gave in and brought its famous BBM messaging service to Android and iOS last year, but it wanted to remind us that it still had a smartphone platform of its own by giving its apps a nasty BlackBerry 10 style user interface. Upcoming BBM updates will change that, however, with a new makeover that brings a more native user experience.
