Zynga has reportedly closed down Draw Something studio OMGPOP and laid off all of its staff just 14 months after it was acquired in a $180 million deal. OMGPOP released its Draw Something sequel back in April, but it appears it wasn’t the success the company hoped it would be.

Google has announced its acquisition of leading mobile office solution Quickoffice. Quickoffice has proved to be one of the most powerful mobile office suites available and has shared success across multiple mobile platforms including Android and iOS. It’s tough to tell what Google has planned for the office suite but we’re sure it involves Google Docs, Google Drive, and a host of other productivity apps.

There’s no telling what the future will hold for the Quickoffice suite currently on iOS, as well as platforms other than Android — but one has to wonder: will Google simply kill them off or keep them after they integrate its features into their own apps? Larry goes on to thank former CEO Sanjay Jha, and to talk about his replacement, Dennis Woodside. Larry had nothing but positive words for Dennis and his transition to CEO of Motorola Mobility:

I, for one, look forward to a completely connected home where my mobile devices interact with my consumer electronics. Many companies are working towards this goal and Sony has taken the right steps by acquiring Ericsson’s half.

The Sony acquisition of Sony Ericsson has moved one step closer thanks to the approval of the European Commission. In case you hadn’t heard, Sony is in plans to acquire Sony Ericsson in hopes of creating a better more connected ecosystem for their products. Three months ago Sony paid €1.05 billion for Ericsson’s share of the partnership and we’re just witnessing the steps that Sony must forego before the acquisition can be complete.
