Yahoo has ambitious plans to take on YouTube with a new video service of its own, according to sources familiar with its plans — and it is reportedly set to make its debut this summer. The company is already in talks with video producers, and it plans to offer them a significantly greater cut of ad revenues in an effort to convince them to switch.

Facebook Home, the Android launcher from Facebook that you’ve probably forgotten about by now, has been updated to support Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest, and Tumblr integration — allowing users to see posts and photos from these services on their lock screen.

Yahoo! has this morning announced that it has reached a deal to acquire popular blogging platform Tumblr for $1.1 billion. The company promises “not to screw it up,” and says that Tumblr will continue to operate as a separate business, with David Karp remaining CEO.

The Tumblr app for Android devices got an update today that’s more of a visual redesign than anything else. The app has a new Post Anything screen that will let you post photos, videos, quotes, chats, links, and text, all with a single tap from a single screen. This changes things from the previous design, in which you had to post each type of item from its own screen, similar to the web interface.
