Yesterday, Samsung unveiled its flagship smartphone of 2014, the Galaxy S5, and today we’ve received confirmation that the handset is en route to all  the big cellular operators across Canada, including Bell, Eastlink, Fido, Koodoo, Rogers, SaskTel, TELUS, Videotron, Virgin Mobile and WIND Mobile.

Canadian One’s did make HTC’s self-imposed 90 day update deadline, after all. Rogers, TELUS, Bell, Virgin, SaskTel and Wind are now rolling out the much-anticipated over-the-air Android 4.4 KitKat update to all HTC One smartphones currently located in Canada. This upgrade, which weighs in at just under 600MB, brings the latest build of the open-source operating system, in addition to the usual multitude of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed enhancements.

This weekend, HTC Canada updated its webpage with some pretty exiting news for on-contract HTC One owners who are champing at the bit to get the much-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat software version on their handsets. As of today, Bell, Roger (who are also working to certify the latest upgrade for the One mini), TELUS, Virgin Mobile, Wind and SaskTel are all working around the clock to certify the latest upgrade. So, presuming no problems are detected, we only have a couple more days to wait for the rollout to begin.

The three largest Canadian carriers, Rogers, TELUS and Bell, are in the process of pushing out a rather hefty unexpected over-the-air (OTA) update to all of their carrier-branded Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini handsets located in Canada. This much-anticipated update finally brings Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a newer version of the TouchWiz UI to the handset, in addition to support for the Galaxy Gear.
